About V-DAC & POC
Fostering social upliftment, scientific communication, and compassionate student leadership in the local communities around IISER Berhampur.
Empowering Local Villages & Schools
The Village Development and Activities Club (V-DAC) serves as an outreach club operating under the guidance of the Publication & Outreach Council (POC) at IISER Berhampur. Our fundamental goal is the social upliftment of local people living in surrounding villages and school districts.
Directed towards social and humane causes, V-DAC is responsible for conducting regular, interactive activities with local schools, village elders, and rural youth. Each student volunteer actively engages to bring about tangible, meaningful change in community health, sanitation, education, and digital awareness.
Student Leadership
Empowering undergraduate and postgraduate scholars to lead grassroots interventions.
Humane Causes
Prioritizing dignity, feminine hygiene, first-aid safety, and basic sanitation accessibility.
Institutional Ecosystem
V-DAC functions as an integral student arm supported by institute faculty and leadership.
Our Four Core Action Pillars
1. Rural Sanitation & Hygiene
Addressing open defecation and improper waste management through door-to-door counseling, dustbin distributions, and regional flashcards.
2. First Aid & Safety Readiness
Empowering coastal and rural citizens with snake-bite response training, firebreak drills, and free emergency first-aid kit setups.
3. Menstrual Dignity & Pad-Banks
Breaking societal taboos through structured Menstrual Hygiene Drives (3 completed till date) and school Pad-Bank installations.
4. Science & Digital Literacy
Sparking scientific curiosity with hands-on experiment modules (Arohana) and protecting villagers against online scams.
